It's you and me 'till the end of time

Anyone that knows me will be able to tell you I am a massive Biffy Clyro fan. Seriously. I love them....but I also love the X factor..Every year I find myself watching it, probably a bit too much, but then after the show I never really listen to the music the contestants produce. It unfortunately is generally just not the type of music I listen to. So this year when I heard Matt Cardle's (the winner) song was going to be a Biffy Clyro cover. I wasn't really sure...as I said before I seriously love Biffy Clyro. But I have to say I do really like Matt's cover it. I actually really like it. So this week I decided to do something a bit different with T is for tune and give you two delightful tunes..ok so one song recorded by different people.

The X factor version

And the original

Personally, I am always going to prefer the Biffy version...But I am a bit biased. Which do you prefer?xo

Happy New Year!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope everyone has had a lovely festive season and welcomed the new year in, in style? I had a lovely couple of weeks with my family and am now back in Scotland and back to hopefully some regular blogging.

On New years eve, or as it is known in Scotland Hogmany, I went to the Edinburgh street party. It was a really good night with lovely people and very good fireworks! Unfortunately I didn't bring a good camera with me so I only have a couple of very bad photos of the fireworks.

So, as it is my first post of the new year I thought I would share my new years resolutions with you. Normally I am not one to make new years resolutions as I don't think you end up keeping to them but this year I thought I would make them and really try to stick with them! I figure if I post them here it might force me to stick with them.

1. Be more creative.
I have found since I moved to Edinburgh in September I have been so busy that I haven't had much time to make much and I really enjoy sewing and making dresses so I think this is a bit of a shame..so I am going to dedicate at least one afternoon every weekend to being creative.

2. Cook more.
This is very similar to my previous resolution. I love cooking and baking but sometimes during the week, when I get in a bit late I can be quite lazy and end up just throwing something in the oven, which isn't the best really. So I want to make more of an effort to cook more during the week.

3. Blog more often!
This is another pretty important one I want to blog more frequently with a bit more structure!

So lets hope I stick to them!! Did you make any new years resolutions?xo

Festive fudge and tasty tunes

Every Christmas, when I am come home, there is one particular festive snack my family always asks me to make, Fudge. I love this recipe, it makes such tasty, crumbly, melt in the mouth fudge. And it has become a bit of a festive tradition for me to make it (of course I make it at other times of the year as well, but it seems particularly good with a nice cup of tea, sitting by the fire, watching the snow fall).

So, I thought I would share the recipe with you all in case anyone else would like to add it to their stockings this year. This recipe has been in my family for years and I really don't know where it originally came from! But, I will warn you, this is only for people with a sweet tooth!

Ingredients:
1/4 pt Milk
4oz Butter
1lb Granulated sugar
1 tabsp. Syrup
Small tin condensed milk

Heat the milk, butter and sugar until it dissolves, add syrup and condensed milk. Bring to the boil

Boil gently, for 30-40 minutes until the mix changes to nice fudgy colour! (be careful not to boil for too long or at too high a temperature as this can really ruin the texture of the fudge. I usually keep it at the lowest setting on the hob, it takes longer to bring to the boil but definitely worth it, texture and taste wise.) And be sure to stir constantly!!

Beat the mixture until cool and then spread on greaseproof paper on a baking tray.

And finally enjoy with a nice cup of tea....

Let me know if you try this recipe, I would love to hear!

And saying it is Thursday, I thought I would share this weeks tune...this week it is a special Christmas edition. xo

Walking in a winter wonderland

Since my last post...I have been once again extremely busy with work (I feel this is becoming a bit of a theme at the minute, but hopefully things will calm down in the New Year!) But I have also managed to come home for Christmas. That's right, I'm getting to indulge in a full two weeks at home. And guess what I brought home with me?

Yep, that's right lots and lots of snow!

I have to say I am enjoying the snow a lot more this time...Maybe it is cause I don't have to worry about walking into uni. All I need to do is sit by the fire and read...it is wonderful! I have managed to brave the cold to take a few more snow photos

and to go sledging...

and to take a very sad pug out for a walk....

How is everyone enjoying this festive season? Hope you are having fun and keeping warm! I'm off to sit by the fire and have a cup of hot chocolate. xo

Snow is falling....all around us...

So since last weekend the snow has been pretty much non-stop here in Scotland. Last week when the snow stopped for a while I managed to sneak out and take a few photos, so I thought I would share them with you today, instead of a weekend in photos post, as my weekend was spent trying to stay inside to avoid the snow! We have had so much more snow since I took these photos...but these give you an idea anyway

See I have problems with the snow....Part of me loves it, I mean how couldn't you? It is just so pretty...I love sitting beside the fire and watching the snow fall outside.

But then the other part of me realises I can't stay inside all the time like I want to. No, Instead I have to struggle to keep my balance as I trek through the snow, which quickly turns to sludge and then ice...and my balance just isn't good enough for that. Although some people are still willing to cycle.

But then again it has given me an excuse to wear my faux fur coat again!! xo
